Pinterest has become one of the first places couples turn to when planning their wedding and understandably so. It’s full of beautiful imagery, dreamy colour palettes, and inspiring floral designs that help bring ideas together. At Olivehill Garden, we love seeing the inspiration our couples are drawn to, and Pinterest can be a wonderful starting point when planning your wedding flowers.

However, it’s also important to approach Pinterest with a little realism.
Many of the images you’ll find on Pinterest are styled shoots or heavily edited photographs, created to present a “perfect” moment. Colours are often enhanced, flowers are carefully curated, and arrangements are sometimes adjusted digitally to achieve a flawless look. While these images are undeniably beautiful, they don’t always reflect what flowers look like naturally, in real life, on a real wedding day.
Flowers are a natural product. They vary in shape, size, tone, and texture depending on the season, availability, and growing conditions. This means that while we can absolutely take inspiration from certain colour schemes, styles, and overall set-ups, it’s rarely possible, or even desirable to recreate an image exactly as it appears on Pinterest. Your bouquet or centrepiece will never be an identical copy, and that’s not a flaw it’s part of what makes your flowers unique. Instead, I always recommend looking at flowers that are in season at the time you’re getting married and exploring the real work of florists whose style you’re drawn to. Sending images of a florist’s own work highlighting what you love, what you’re unsure of, or even what you don’t like is one of the best ways to communicate your vision. This gives a far more honest and realistic starting point and is a true reflection of a florist’s creativity, as every designer’s style and approach is different.
Pinterest works best as a tool for communicating feel rather than perfection. It’s incredibly helpful for showing whether you’re drawn to soft and romantic, wild and whimsical, or something more structured and elegant. It helps us understand the mood, movement, and colours you love not to recreate an image stem for stem, but to design something bespoke that suits you, your venue, and the season you’re getting married in.
At Olivehill Garden, our approach is always honest and considered. We guide our couples through what’s realistically achievable, explain how seasonality and flower availability play a role, and work with you to create designs that feel cohesive, beautiful, and personal rather than chasing an unattainable “perfect” image.

So by all means, save the pins, gather inspiration, and share what you love. Just remember that the most beautiful wedding flowers are not about perfection they’re about thoughtfulness, seasonality, and creating something that feels true to you.
If you’d like to chat about your ideas or need help translating Pinterest inspiration into something that works beautifully for your wedding day, I’d love to hear from you.
Image one shows a true Playa Blanca rose bouquet. Image two is the same photograph, but the colour has been edited to achieve a specific tone. This edited image could easily appear on Pinterest and be saved for its beautiful colour. However, the rose shade shown does not exist naturally, meaning no florist could recreate it exactly. Instead, a florist may suggest a similar natural rose, such as Quicksand, to achieve a comparable look while staying true to what is available in season.
